Dr Andrew Cairns
is a Consultant Rheumatologist based at Musgrave Park Hospital, Belfast, Northern Ireland. Dr Cairns also provides NHS rheumatology clinics in Belfast City Hospital and Lagan Valley Hospital Lisburn.

Dr Cairns treats adult patients with rheumatological conditions, including all forms of arthritis and joint pain, autoimmune and connective tissue diseases, and soft tissue problems (such as tendon and muscle disorders). Dr Cairns is a member of the British Society for Rheumatology and the Irish Society for Rheumatology. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, Royal College of Physicians of London, and Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He holds a Master of Science degree in Sport and Exercise Medicine and is a member of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (UK).

Dr Cairns sees private patients at Hillsborough Private Clinic, and the Ulster Independent Clinic. The clinics offer fully equipped consulting rooms with dedicated reception and nursing staff. Joint and soft tissue injections are carried out on site, under ultrasound guidance when indicated.


Private appointments can be arranged by calling Hillsborough Private Clinic or the Ulster Independent Clinic directly. Dr Cairns encourages patients to bring a referral letter from their General Practitioner.
