Dr Cairns offers access to the full range of investigations necessary for diagnosis and treatment including blood tests, musculoskeletal ultrasound, X-rays, CT and MRI imaging, and nerve conduction tests.

Dr Cairns has a special interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound which is increasingly used in diagnosis and also to guide joint and soft tissue injections. Dr Cairns has EFSUMB certification in musculoskeletal ultrasound, and regularly acts as a tutor and faculty member for musculoskeletal ultrasound courses including those run by the British Society for Rheumatology and Irish Society for Rheumatology.
